Consists of a Collaborative Team of Advanced Practitioners.
We became close friends in physical therapy school more than 13 years ago. As experienced Doctors of Physical Therapy, we have first hand experience with the nature of big hospital systems as well as overbooked private practices. Kat opened Tosa PT & Wellness in August of 2023 with a collaborative, one-stop kind of rejuvenating space in mind.
Together, as Women Owned Business Owners, mothers, athletes, and dear friends we offer you unique perspective of one-on-one care, an interconnected approach with our combined specialties to enhance your experience.

Katheryn (Kat) Hurst PT, DPT, CAFS
Kat received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from UW-Milwaukee and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Business Administration from Mercer University where she played Division I soccer, captaining her senior year. As a former US Soccer National Team player, Division I athlete, captain, and Atlantic Sun Champion, Kat understands the competitive edge and intrinsic drive that fuels every inner athlete. Having many surgeries herself, she can also identify with how injury and surgery can shape the rehab experience at any level.
After a successful soccer career, multiple knee injuries influenced Kat to explore a different fitness path. She began cycling and competing in triathlons, including two half IRONMAN events. Fueled by a new passion, Kat integrated her expertise as a physical therapist into her love of cycling and became BikePT - Bronze level certified in 2018. She evaluates the individual and identifies positioning and biomechanical issues contributing to pain or limiting performance on and off the bike. Then she makes adjustments and provides an appropriate treatment plan to help cyclists and triathletes perform at their best at any level, casual or competitive.
As a mother of two (with one on the way), Kat understands what pregnancy, (pregnancy loss), delivery, recovery, return to activity, and managing life as a mom is like. It’s a transformational experience on the body, mind and spirit. She is committed to helping women at every turn of motherhood explore that journey with confidence and with partnership to be at their best for themselves and their family. Tosa Physical Therapy and Wellness is a safe community space for women to redefine those versions of themselves and have a place to develop fitness, mental, and emotional identities shaped by the new versions of ourselves.
In other professional experience, Kat and her wife, Kate, worked together at the Chicago Red Stars where they ran soccer camps and team training sessions for girls in the Chicagoland area alongside some of the best women's soccer players in the world. After moving to Milwaukee, they expanded that vision to girl’s specific training for building confidence, improving form and promoting injury prevention with body weight strengthening, speed, agility, & plyometric training. Kat is a PT with experience in acute and inpatient neuro rehabilitation, as well as orthopedic and sports medicine rehabilitation at the two primary hospital systems in town. Although she works with athletes of all levels on a daily basis in her clinic, she looks forward to the opportunity to train with you.
Brittni Bukacek PT, DPT
I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology while competing on NCAA Division 1 cross country and track and field teams at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. I then earned my Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2016.
Despite having been a physical therapist for a few years with medically complex patients in ICUs, I was pleasantly surprised by how much more there was to learn and grow in this field. My interest in pelvic floor therapy sparked while preparing for my son's birth. This experience ignited a passion in me to help others understand the importance of pelvic health and its impact on overall well-being.
I've completed extensive continuing education in pelvic floor rehabilitation through the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. I love diving into the latest research to provide the highest level of evidence-based and trauma-informed care for patients of all genders with bladder, bowel, ante/postpartum, return to activity/running, and peri/postmenopausal concerns.

Owner & Practitioner
Rehab Lab
Welcome! My name is Alyson Stearns. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree at UW-Stevens Point in Biology in 2005 and a Master of Public Health degree from UW-LaCrosse in 2008. After working in public health for 5 years, and seeing my mother bravely navigate her journey with multiple sclerosis, I followed a long held dream and earned my Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2016. I truly love the journey of working with and getting to know a patient and their family during our time together.
I enjoy treating all orthopedic conditions and have advanced training in the treatment of spine, specially scoliosis. I am trained in the Schroth Method for the treatment of scoliosis (BSPTS L1 & L2). I am also certified in Dry Needling (Myopain Level 1 & 2). I’m constantly amazed at how the field of PT is changing and evolving. I love learning and pushing myself to be the best clinician I can be to meet the needs of my patients and their families.
The best things in life aren’t things. I’m so fortunate to spend my days with my amazing husband and son. They keep me grounded, make me laugh and are always up for an adventure.
I look forward to working with you!
